A person who contaminated candy with sedative and gave them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offences against two boys who were nine and 10.
The accused was arrested after eight youngsters and a grown-up experienced illness at the facility in the summer month.
The elderly man, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the courthouse on Friday.
Nevertheless, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old child.
Ruben was remanded in custody prior to a additional proceeding on 28 November.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, described the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She said his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a youth camp which he operated.
The defendant played a "candy game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel said, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and ask them to eat sweets "rapidly".
She stated to the judge Ruben had engaged in this activity with the boys "repeatedly", and children had previously fallen ill the next day.
She explained the man had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had concerns in recently.
The legal representative added: "In the summer" his stepson had suspicions about the situation, justifiably.
"They decided to investigate in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel stated materials including lubricant, ointment and syringes were discovered, and his stepchild alerted the law enforcement about his worries.
She stated Ruben went on to conduct the "sweet game" with six boys that night - that Saturday - and they were all sick the next day.
"The police had not gone out by that stage," she stated further.
The police watchdog, the investigative body, previously told that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
The legal representative explained the children were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the stepson contacted the authorities a second time.
She explained the defendant then engaged in the "treat game" in a area of five minors.
